Brief description

NIO architecten is a relatively small office, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The total office structure generally consists of 8 people, led by 2 people: Maurice Nio and Joan Almekinders. Everyone in the office is educated and trained as an architect and is required to know all and do all; everyone in the office is an 'all-rounder'.

Over the years, we have established a network with experts, of whom we can say it is a constant pleasure to work with.

NIO architecten is making `primary identities', obstinate entities that brave themselves against the lukewarm tide of consensus. We design small-scale and large-scale utilitarian buildings, complex residential buildings, civil projects such as tunnels and highways, urban plans, commercial and private interiors.
