Brief description

Through the five senses, the house nurtures the brain.

Higashijima’s designs are approached from focusing on how the brain works. Our brain is constantly receiving signals from our environment consciously and unconsciously. We can see children’s brain flexibility in many ways but it is without a doubt that as we grow up we lose this flexibility in thinking. Not using our brain makes it become rocklike. Higashijima designs spaces that stimulate the brain to enable children to grow up healthy, physically and mentally. He thinks humans, especially children shouldn’t live in a box.

Higashijima Architectural Studio focuses particularly on projects for families with young children.
