Brief description
Design Initiatives is innovative, award-winning architecture practice based in Los Angeles, California and Sofia, Bulgaria, EU founded in 2009 by Vlado Valkof.
For two years, after Vlado Valkof [or just Valkof] graduated with Master’s degree from UACEG, Sofia in 1998 he had worked as free-lancer. In 2000 he relocated to Southern California first to do his internship in Morphosis and than his post-grad at SCI-ARC. After that he had gained extensive experience in several Los Angeles offices over complex commercial, institutional, mixed-use, residential, and interior projects throughout the US, Europe, Russia and the UAE. In 2009 Valkof had a chance to re-establish his practice under the name of Design Initiatives.
Valkof is a Laureate of The International Academy of Architecture [IAA] and got awarded with The Iakov Chernikhov International Foundation [ICIF] Prize. His work won Second Prize from The United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] Competition and participated in Beyond Media Festival in Florence, Italy.
