Profile of KLab architecture, headquartered in Greece. Three projects submitted by KLab architecture have been published on Architecture News Plus (ANP).
KLAB architecture (kinetic lab of architecture), formerly known as KLMF architects, was founded in 2001 by Konstantinos Labrinopoulos. It is an international group of highly qualified and motivated architects who seek opportunities for creating unique and intriguing urban events. Since the language of Architecture travels across borders, this multicultural team invests on its extremely rich diversity of knowledge, from the largest planning scale to the smallest technical details. Such practice is at the forefront of contemporary international architectural design.
KLAB architecture finds inspiration in the interconnection and juxtaposition of everyday things in life. It combines the ephemeral with the diachronic, the classic with the modern, natural with artificial, large and small scales, conventional and experimental materials.
The aspiration of KLAB architecture architects has always been: create as artists and to materialize as scientists. Freedom of inspiration, originality in design and strict project implementation are the principles that drive the office’s continuous development. Everyday research is an essential ingredient for high-quality innovative and functional design. Every client is unique and poses a new and interesting challenge for the office members, who engage with him in an active dialogue at every stage of the building process. Every project is tailor-made according to the requirements and aspirations of the clients.
KLAB architecture aims for high-quality architecture, one that broadens the mind and expands architecture’s potential through unique approaches.
KLAB architecture is the Greek architectural firm selected by the EAA, the European Architects’ Alliance, as its Greek member. It has worked on a number of important collaborative projects with practices in the UK, France and the US. Moreover, the work of KLAB architecture has been widely published in architectural magazines and books, both in Greece and internationally. Notably, in August 2008 KLAB architecture achieved international recognition as it was selected by Wallpaper magazine in its 2008 Design Directory as one of the fifty most upcoming architectural firms of the world.
With a considerable number of highly successful projects in Greece and in South East Europe, KLAB architecture is today strongly positioned to confront any architectural challenge with its unique attitude to design.
