Brief description
Casagrande Laboratory is a Finland based international co-operative of architects, urban planners, artists and scientists of various disciplines. The mobile working crew is involved with cross-over architectonic projects around the world. C-LAB is known of interdisciplinary work commenting on social and ecological questions within the framework of built human environment. Focus in ruining the industrial city. Ruin is when man-made has become part of nature.
C-LAB runs independent research units in the Tamkang University department of architecture in Taiwan and SGT Sustainable Global Technologies of Aalto University in Finland. The theory of the Third Generation City views the post industrial urban condition as a machine ruined by human nature and architects as design shamans merely interpreting what the bigger nature of the shared mind is transmitting. Other research focuses in developing the theories and design methodologies of Ultra-Ruin, Urban Acupuncture and River Urbanism.
In search for subconscious architecture, real reality and connection between the modern man and nature. Casagrande believes that one shall not be blindfolded by stress, the surroundings of economics, the online access to entertainment or information. What is real is valuable.
