Designer's statement

There is in the quiet residential walked a few minutes from the station, and the height of about 1-meter from frontal road. This site works advantageously the slash of the law control, and can be built the volume that is a little bigger than the surrounding. Then, this project started from making the best use of this peculiar site conditions.

To make the best use of the vertical interval of the site, we proposed the volume of the building to construct the 3-floors. It was composed in a half underground floor with reinforced concrete construction and in 2-floors on upper ground with wooden construction.

About the composition of the building, we did the zoning of the space in which a half underground floor is the garage, and 1st floor is the space in which families gathering, and 2nd floor is the space with high privacy. The garage in a half underground floor is paved with cut stones, and its wall was cut cylindrical holes for several places, and the garage that tends to darken is produced by burying the lighting under the holes.

Terrace in the south separated from the surrounding is able to use openly, because of covering surrounding with the wall of 2-meters height. Therefore the terrace combined living room, became a private living terrace. Japanese-style room on the side of the living room can use the space of Japanese-style room by raising the height of the floor in Japanese-style room from the floor of living room by 40cm like the furniture like the bed or the bench where it lies down.

Because 2nd floor is a composition of private room and bathroom not requiring of openness, the ceiling height is pressed to 2.2-meters. As a result, the ceiling height of the living room of 1st floor can be 3-meters.

For making the best use of site conditions well, a big space is produced by assuming the building to be the maximum volume in living room and dinning room and kitchen of the first floor. A private living terrace of an enough size is obtained in the south.

Living room that is passed light and the wind is a space to which it is rich and comfortable.
