Designer's statement

Our purpose was to design a outstanding building with clear and simple form, standing among ordinary building in the residential area of Warsaw.

The building location at the sharp boundary line allowed right use of the parcel.

It was therefore decided to connect designed object with neighbouring building, while not forming an integral whole with it. Our idea of design was to create the self-living building without context.

One of the challenges in designing was to combine the functionality of house with its simple but dynamic form. The users established program of their future home very precisely on preliminary design stage, and it was very difficult to change something during the further process. It has had big impact for definition of interior space relation.

To create the outer-skin layers of building it has supplied by strong define materials and colors like; white-grey plastering, dark brown wood panels and deep dark frame of windows.

Large glazed succeed to connected with clear functional arrangement obtained spacious, bright and clear interior space. The big windows have allowed for visual contact with garden and optically enlarged space inside the building. Character of intersecting solids of building underscore the selected materials.

The building is oriented on site according to quarters of the globe and energy saving idea using all existing natural elements ( greeneries, fresh air flow, sun orientation, etc). It was designed as low-tech building.
