This is a project by Abalos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos + Casariego/Guerra and it is located at Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain. It was submitted to Architecture News Plus (ANP) by Abalos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos. Project's program: Residential tower, offices, shops and public square. There are nine images for Woermann Tower and Square.
Woermann Tower:
We fancy houses with generous ceiling heights, close to the traditional ones, enjoying the view as if from a watchtower. Large panels protected by deep shadows artificial-natural brise-soleil, and plant motifs in the thickness of the glass - so that nothing more is needed.
Woermann Tower is a virtual forest from which to enjoy the utopia of living immersed in a hybrid landscape.
The city is displayed in full harmony with that idea, a forest of natural and artificial shadows without scale.
The Woermann Tower aims to embody the hopes, desires and fantasies of a society that seeks to find compromise between nature and development, a form of intense and true to life landscape.
Woermann Square:
The public space appears as a large flat continuous Portuguese stone structure, open to the sea at one end and closed laterally by two buildings, with facilities on the first floor and shops on ground floor and basement. This area is well appointed in functional terms and is a tropical plaza designed to create a comfortable outdoor enclosure and also a gateway to the sea.
