This is a project by 70F architecture and it is located at Blaricum, Netherlands. Project's program: Interior restyling and extension of existing villa. There are seventeen images for Villa Smit-Gutter.
The commission consisted of restyling the interior of an existing villa and extending it with a new building. The old villa was built in 1925. Most of its interior and exterior had not been updated since then. We tried to maintain the old style exterior so the picturesque street view would not be disturbed. By clearing both floors from any walls, a maximum of space is achieved in this small villa. In the extension we projected the kitchen on the side of the house, while at the back of the garden the atelier/guest room is situated. The second floor becomes an open plan bedroom with bathroom en suite.
The extension is a maximization of what was possible within building regulations. It is clad in Cor-ten steel. The garden-facing façade is fully glazed with one big sliding door. Above the façade lamellas are placed, creating shadow. The extension is separated from the house by a small corridor. Two inside sliding doors divide the atelier from the kitchen and the rest of the house.
