Designer's statement

By way of its history and current activity, the headquarters of Warsaw’s DeSki Sports Club is inseparably linked with skiing and boarding, a fact which strongly determined the design for the structures to be erected.

One of the key design premises was to retain the site’s atmosphere and tradition. The newly designed building was in fact an extension of the old “cult-status” club building, which had the aesthetic of a boathouse crossed with a mountain shelter.

A characteristic feature of the building is the openwork wall on the upper terrace from the Zaruskiego St side. Composed of upright boards, the wall separates the terrace from the street while offering a peek into the interior of the complex.

In the building’s main entrance area, there is now a large terrace with a tree growing in the centre, which acts as the “heart” of the complex to be flanked with a tennis court building in the second phase of development.
