Designer's statement
Capturing the Garden:
This SOHO was built in Jakarta's dense residential area in Indonesia. Right next to the main house, this “small office home office” concept is separated by a garden.
Linear and functional were the main keywords of the design. The ground level of the building is built higher than the ground, to achieve the impression of "floating". The wall, mainly covered in glass, facilitates view from the office towards the garden. The main material — steel — was chosen for convenience and speed in construction time. The flooring is mainly wood, which lends itself to the warm ambiance we wanted to achieve for this project.
Since this was an addition, the building designed specifically to the client needs and its perceived function. The garden dominates the open space and becomes a relaxation space of its owner.
As a connection between the main residential building and the office, the service areas are on the bottom level and fitness area above it. On one side, the railing as a vocal point was made with a suspension screening brick module.
