Architect's statement
The site is located in the residential area in Fukushima Prefecture. The site faces a narrow road and the land is stepped down towards the north side.
By designing a house with maintaining the sky view, it is tried to reform the tight neighbour environment. Half of the house where the supporting soil is weak is buried under the basement, the house looks like a one storey building from the façade. As a result, the blue open sky can be seen at the site.
Three voids with different heights were inserted in the closed façade for bringing light into the house, effectively. By using the building's geometric feature with sticks to the ground, the heating equipment was buried under the ground by using a natural thermal storage belt and secure a steady indoor condition with saving the energy expenditure.
