This is a project by massimo nodari architect and it is located at Piamborno, BS, Italy. There are five images for Egg Shaped Kitchen.
The egg is a perfect shape, even though it is made with the ass (B. Munari)
The rearrangement of the inside spaces aims to read more clearly the living functions, along with the necessity of making use of the attic space. The client, being fond of cooking, wanted spaces especially thought for this function. Therefore, the project is built around the kitchen, characterized by an egg shape, the heart of the geometric composition and set out on the axis of the dining area. The flat is completed with the double bedroom, furnished with the wardrobe, and the bathroom. The choice of the materials is deliberately limited (only wood and stainless steel) , as well as the chromatic scale (palette) (beige shades) to which furniture and lighting elements were conformed to, all design made following an extreme simple style and with the aim to “disappear” to leave space to architectural elements.
The kitchen, central component of the project is at the same time the geometrical shape generator. The egg shape allows to easily organize spaces and ways around the central equipped core (designed and realized in stainless steel). The fridge, the cupboards and wall cupboards as well as the storage spaces are hidden interstitial spaces behind the bended wooden walls, marked by big stainless steel handles/kitchenware hangers. The above extractor hood/dish drainer have the same fusiform shape of the electric household appliances block. The lighting is supplied by little halogen lamps, situated in the wooden ceiling. 2 bended wooden sliding doors, on a thin stainless steel structure, make it possible to close the kitchen. The floor is made of Forte Colombino stone.
The bathroom is placed in the same position as the previous bathroom, making an extension work by straining the lateral wall that takes a hollow form. The coating and the basin are in glazed stainless steel alternated with larch strips. The edging and the leg hinging the towels are in iroko. The bathroom floor is in larch planks .
